Please vote : Should the bad config detection plugin remain

Hey everyone,

As you know there has been a lot of discussions around the plugin that detects the player config, and because it is like a double edged sword, ie can reduce hax, but also reduces the amount of customers ... we have to make a final decision.

For those who do not know, the plugin works like this : if a player has these settings wrong in their config.cfg file
smac_addcvar cl_interp (changes the speed at which the player gets info back and forth from the server) can be nice for people with faster internet connections but not so nice for ppl with slower internet connections, so better to keep the same for all)
smac_addcvar props_break_max_pieces (this removes broken items visible ingame, can help with bad graphic cards, but also a differential advantage)
smac_addcvar func_break_max_pieces (this removes broken items visible ingame, can help with bad graphic cards, but also a differential advantage)
smac_addcvar cl_phys_props_max

When the plugin detects that the player has modified the default game settings for the above, it does this :

Makes the player pink
Reduces the player's health to 20 every 30 seconds
Notifies the player in chat that we do not accept modified config files - and asks them to change there settings back or remove the values where applicable

can't we just change the server settings to match those of pink players? seems like it would improve the experience for everyone except for people with slow connections

No we cannot do this as these are client side only settings, we also cannot force the settings on them. This is why the only way was to ask / or and penalise.

Bon je ne suis pas de votre team et je n'ai rien a dire mais je pense que l'idée reste bonne mais risque de réduire le nombre de joueur sur le serveur.

Oui comme la dit golgoth il peux avoir des conséquences m'enfin bon quand bubbles il a mit le plugin ça n'a rien changer aux niveaux de l'attractivité du serveur , juste quelque personne ont fais leur râleur mais à voir si ça influence après c'est une petite minorité de gens qui ont leur cl_interp etc etc changer moi j'avais des paramètres changer et quand on et revenue à ce de bases je n'ai senti aucune différence de jeux lol :wave1
