A few years back, when Steam started rolling out client installations hiding the integrated Esc menu, I got concerned and made the decision to go a different direction rather than fight the change.
That is when I came up with the ingame map panel known as MAPS, I dreamt of something intuitive and featureful all players could use which would replace the old way of choosing a map (old menus) with pictures and a button where everyone could choose a map they like!
When the panel was finally ready and I launched it, I had so many people telling me: "You are crazy this will never work, very bad idea, because people cannot vote".
Funny today to think back on this, we were really missing that feature during the server outages
