Well, it has always been my dream to simplify and live tiny, be self sustainable !

I have seen many videos but never quite found my ideal layout so I made one to size - I wanted to add an oven too but did not have a 3d avail.
The dishwasher is under the sink! lol
The shower area is large enough to host a permanent composting toilet!
The sitting area converts into a bed. The TV is as Samsung the frame tv, which is art when off, you can use it as a computer monitor, or as a tv in bed or in the lounge.
I decided to completely close off the cab area, it's much better this way.

Until the real thing happens, we can all dream

Seems we have one dream in common of being self sustainable. Your camper van setup is beautiful, it just have one problem as I can see, and that`s the height of the ceiling. It would be awfully uncomfortable to have to bend you head while moving around in there. F. ex while doing the dishes. I have spent a great deal of time in vans, in the Mercedes Sprinter to be precise. The advantage there is the height of the ceiling. it`s also really nice to have a door between the driver`s cabin and the back, of course making the front cabin a two-seat configuration. However figuring out how to build it isn`t the problem. I guess money, time and effort is the real problem. I guess the easiest is to just buy a rv, unfortunately they are so expensive. The second problem is finding a place to park, that can be a real challenge in the city, and at least here in Oslo they are steadily removing parking spots. So finding a undisturbed parking is almost impossible. Power is a problem, especially in here where it`s cold in the winter, it would require burning lots of propane. I followed a Youtuber many years ago, he calls himself NomadicFanatic. When i started following him he had just been forced to live in his truck because he lost his job, and made videos for a small income. Since the start his life has changed, and now he do that for a living. Watching his video`s can give a good insight of what it is like to live in an RV full time, and about all those small problems that have to be solved.

There are other alternatives, for instance I have a friend that live in a sailboat, and have done so for the past two years. It is probably a better alternative than living in an RV. Drawback is cost and maintenance.

third alternative is homesteading off grid. Maybe the best alternative. However its still necessary to have an income, and with a homestead it could be far away from any "normal" job.

I guess many have the dream of living a simple live, and cutting away all the bullshit, and to be free and really do what you like. Wage slavery is a trap that`s difficult to break free from, but it remains a dream. Being trapped in a cubicle for 8 hours or more every day seems to me like a horrible nightmare. No wonder people get sick and die when they live like that.

Hey there Satan, wage slavery IS a trap youve said it, it's the story of the sausage and the dog, they always give you a little more to keep you in, then you wake up 20 years later, and guess what it's too late !
Thanks also for looking at the van closely Actually the height is 1932mm (H2) AAAAA well noted ! the van in the image is an H1 ! hihi

I have placed a partition wall between the drivers area and the "house" for 3 reasons
1. To insulate for heat
2. Privacy
3. for the home feel.... my idea is that once you are in , you should not really know you are in a van

As for the partition wall as you can see ive taken some space there to make some storage on the right, on the left, that is where the sliding door recesses

I have 2 problems currently

1. No laundry solution
2. No bedside nooks ... but perhaps in the door i don't knwo...

I have done calculations using a youtuber tool let me know if you want me to find it again, but to be sustainable I would need 4 tp 5 lithium iron batteries (depending on weather conditions...) and ideally 6x 200 watts solar panels, but otherwise 5 can also do...
For charge I would get charge from either solar or the engine. Gas would be used for cooking.

Actually you are right RE city stuff - think it is a project I will wait to be back in Mauritius to do...

"then you wake up 20 years later, and guess what it's too late !" - that phrase just makes me sad. But I can relate, let`s just hope that`s not right. Ever read "Animal farm" ? , even i`s not related directly to the wage trap, the principle is the same. We`re the animals, the farmer feeds us and give us shelter, but we`re there for the meat, not for our own sake. The future doesn`t look so bright, according to federal reserve economic data they have quadrupled the money quantity in America. Can you believe that ?!? WTF 4x . I`m not sure what the consequence will be for us here in Europe, probably we`re in for a rush in inflation, and guess what, our salary is staying the same. So in a while maybe we will be many living in RV`s, because living in a house will be too expensive. It is already the reality for a million Americans, maybe they even need two jobs. One to pay for the parking, and one to pay for the food. WTF?!. Alright, enough pessimism haha.

Over to the camper can. It seems the ceiling height issue is already resolved. And I can`t believe you put a dishwasher in there! hahaha. I also hate washing dishes, but I wouldn`t have one in the RV, for several reasons, its expensive, its too big, it uses a heck of a lot of water and electricity, and it need a lot of plumbing and would fill up the grey tank quickly, plus there is also the risk of a leak. I would rather use the space for a laundry washer. For me I think I would just prefer a collapsable bucket and a hand agitator. It would save space, water and electricity, plus money. And then rather downsize the wardrobe, and wash more often.

About the door between the driver`s cabin, maybe we can agree to disagree, hehe. For me it would be the first criteria that the car has a sliding door between the front cabin and the back. For exactly the same reason, privacy and convenience. As I told you before I have used a setup with a MB Sprinter for many years, with the back doors bolted shut, and the only access to the back through the door from the drivers cabin. That way no one can see directly into the back cabin from the outside when you enter the back cabin. Plus if you decide to get out of there, its just to open the door and go. Besides having that extra room in the front can make the camper appear much bigger, and with some blinds in front of the window you would still have some privacy.

To me camping in Mauritius sounds like a wonderful dream, I have pictures in my of a lonely camper van parked near a white sand dune on a blue lagoon. That reminded me of the 80`s movie "The blue lagoon"...lol . So what are you waiting or Bubbles!?
