New maps and the future ?

Ok this counteracts what I have always said for years.
I had a chat with Zen, and he confirmed to me that cs players happily download maps of 300mb maps, that is a common thing for them to my undertanding.
So perhaps it is the way forward we must adopt? If we want to remain actual!
So I have asked Zen to port the map cs_climb AS IS - we will experiment with this map sizes.... see moans etc lol
Excuses to SALO who has worked hard to compress maps, but of course if they are compressed they are lighter for clients less disruption
Anyway, I will not place that new map in a cycle, let's see how people take a 300mb map download!
We will run it as an experiment and watch the reactions.

For me, 300 MB is not a problem, but it can be a problem for people with 5-10 Mbit internet. Of course, now is 2021, and we shouldn't be limited to 150-200 MB.I somehow decided to try some of the modern shooters with loot boxes and season passes, in general, to start playing, I had to download about 200 GB, patches and updates of 30-40 GB, which looks ridiculous against the background of our 200-300 MB

Anyway, map optimization is still relevant in 2021. Both in terms of high FPS level, stability, and filesize for downloading.
This should be kinda of a code of honor, respect to players. And the players will repay you in kind... probably

People do not want new maps, they do not need this, they vote from the first seconds if they see something unfamiliar, box and corridor with two textures is enough for them.
This does not mean that the new maps are worse than old ones, it means that players are very conservative.

This actually happens a lot, in csgo some new maps stays with 0 players a lot of time. Maybe new maps are heavier than older ones. A lot of people play in new map in ZG : Changa (idk the name, green/blue killbox map)

YIK CS players still playing on dust_2, sbout 20 years, of course it's really good example how should to do maps.
But there are many good maps out there. I noticed that some players voting the rtv on first seconds if see some new or unfamiliar. And then the herd instinct is triggered...
As a result, several players left, precisely because of this
